The holidays are just around the corner and with the season come the sounds we all love to hear—credit cards swiping, bar code scanners beeping and the ringing of cash registers. Does this sound like your typical holiday? It certainly does if you’re a retailer, and to you there are no sounds sweeter. The holiday selling season is the time of year you’re either preparing for, in the midst of, or recovering from and it’s not too early to start planning. Here’s a checklist to get your store organized:
Create a Christmas floor plan. How will your merchandise be displayed? You have more merchandise in your store, but you’ll also have more people. Do you require additional product displays? Factor in how much space you have remembering that added traffic may require the most sturdy of displays. A great way to increase display size is with a simple round table with a colorful cloth. Or a backroom rack that is portable to the selling floor as space allows. You could also utilize vertical space with a tall showcase.
